The Boston Public School’s School Leadership Institute prepares, supports, and retains aspiring principals, novice principals, and other school-based administrators who possess the knowledge, skills, and experience required to lead instructional improvement and improve student learning. This innovative, district-based institute offers:

• Recruitment that reaches in and beyond the classroom
• Exploring School Administration, a school leader recruitment effort
• Boston Principal Fellowship, a principal certification program
• New Principal Support System, a structure of support for first-,
  second- and third-year principals
• School-Based Administrator (SBA) Program, a professional development and
  support system for assistant principals
• Instructional Leadership Institute, a program that enables SBAs to demonstrate
  leadership potential and skills in support of their interest in pursuing a principalship

The work of the Institute is guided by the belief that practice must drive preparation and support, and research and theory can be most powerful when used to explain effective practice.
