The Boston Public School’s School Leadership Institute prepares, supports, and retains principals who possess the knowledge, skills, and experience required to lead instructional improvement and improved student learning. This innovative, district-based Institute offers three programs:

• Exploring the Principalship, a principal recruitment effort
• Boston Principal Fellowship, a principal certification program
• New Principal Support System, a two-year structure of support for first- and
  second-year principals

The work of the Institute is guided by the belief that practice must drive preparation and support, and research and theory can be most powerful when used to explain effective practice.
